Our Chief Executive, Peter Cheese, was featured in The Times newspaper, sharing his advice for ensuring that organisations are future-fit. Here are his top tips:

  1. Make work work: We all have a role in making sure the future of work is good for people, for business, and society. Jobs and work outcomes can be better, leveraging technology, new ways of working and inclusive cultures. We should experiment, encourage innovation, and learn together.
  2. None of us know all the answers: Be prepared to listen, to be curious and to show a level of vulnerability and humility. Look outside your organisation, as well as in, and create a culture of continuous learning.
  3. Be agile: Involve everyone in sensing the need for change. Encourage new ideas and challenge, and remove obstacles so people are empowered to innovate.
  4. Know your key capabilities: Understand the strengths and weaknesses in your teams. Assess what capabilities will be needed and what tasks and skills should you build, borrow, buy or “bot” (automate) in the future.
  5. Nurture essential skills: Advances in AI and automation will have a significant impact on work, but we must also nurture our human skills, like collaboration, creativity and critical thinking, for both individual and collective success.
  6. Cultivate culture: We are in times of significant change, and we must be able to adapt. Seek to understand culture and mindset, to connect people and align to shared purpose and make this your way of leading.
