“Volunteering to talk to young people in schools is an opportunity to break down stereotypes and assumptions about HR and help to shape a more diverse future workforce for the HR profession. Please volunteer - it’s incredibly rewarding and will make a real difference!”

Charlotte Thurston, Director of Programmes Inspiring the Future

The CIPD has partnered with Inspiring the Future, the flagship service of the Education and Employers charity, to promote careers in the people profession to young people across the UK.

With the help of CIPD members who are volunteering their time, expertise and passion for the people profession, we’ll be hosting a series of events for school and college students, to help raise awareness of the rewarding careers on offer. The first event, for primary school children, will take place this November We’ll also be providing materials to help promote the profession through Inspiring the Future’s network of education providers.

The initiative supports the CIPD’s ambition to create a more diverse people profession and harness the power of today’s profession to create a world of work where everyone can thrive. Other work to support this goal includes our partnership with Springpod to create  a virtual HR work experience programme, and the work of the CIPD Trust to tackle the barriers to getting into and progressing in the people profession and wider world of work.

"Partnering with Inspiring the Future is a great way to raise awareness of the range of fulfilling career options on offer within the people profession and engage directly with the next generation, who will be pivotal in shaping the future of work.”

David D’Souza, Director of Profession, CIPD

Education and Employers is a UK based charity launched in 2009 which aims to “provide young people with the inspiration, motivation, knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to help them achieve their potential”. The charity believes that every young person in our country, wherever they live, whatever their parents or carers’ circumstances, should have the opportunity to meet a diverse range of volunteers and hear first-hand about jobs and the world of work.
